ARLINGTON, VA, October 18, 2022— Alliance for Housing Solutions, a nonprofit working to increase the supply of affordable housing in Arlington County, announced today the appointment of community advocate Charles McCullough (He/Him) as its new Executive Director.
A South Arlington resident for more than 15 years, McCullough is an attorney with a track record of leading community-based organizations and serving as the voice of inclusion for a host of local organizations. Most recently, he founded an organizational development consultancy, helping a variety of clients increase grant revenue, expand their community programs, and enhance their partnerships with local business and government. He also serves as chair and a lead arbitrator for the DC Bar’s Attorney/Client Arbitration Board and is a member of the U.S. Postal Service Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.
McCullough received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University, continuing his education at Boston College where he earned a master’s in education and a law degree.
“Charles’ community leadership experience offers a dynamic and fresh voice for Arlingtonians who see strong affordable housing plans and strategies as essential elements of a vibrant and healthy community,” said AHS Board Chair Jennifer Lawson. “The Board believes his strategic vision for greater neighborhood engagement and organizational management skills offer a strong foundation for AHS to build its third decade of service to our community.”
“I am honored to lead an organization that champions quality affordable living in Arlington and the many benefits it brings to our county,” McCullough said. “For nearly twenty years, AHS has offered education, research, and advocacy for those seeking to increase the supply of affordable housing in Arlington. I look forward to leading AHS as it brings together neighbors, community leaders, businesses and policymakers to create and maintain the variety of housing options that allow for long-term affordability.”
